Venice Man Wins Marina del Rey Halibut Derby

Tim Sheridan took first place with his 33.5 pound fish over the June 8 and 9 weekend.

Venice resident Tim Sheridan took first place in the 38th Annual Marina del Rey Halibut Derby put on by the Marina del Rey Anglers on June 8 and 9.

Sheridan reeled in a 33.5 pound fish and for his efforts won a trip to the Sitka Point Lodge in Alaska.

All funds raised from the event go to the Marina del Rey Youth Fishing Program and the White Sea Bass Grow-Out Program, which  takes  hundreds of disadvantaged youth fishing and release thousands of juvenile White Sea Bass into the wild every year.
