Venice Tennis Eliminated at Ojai Tournament
Gondoliers players fail to win a game in the boys' CIF singles or doubles divisions.
The 111th Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament is being played this week in Ventura County and three players made the trip north to compete in the high school division, which began Thursday morning at sites in and around Ojai.
Coach had predicted his team would have a tough time competing against some of the top players and teams in Southern California--and he was right. The Gondoliers failed to win so much as one game combined in the boys' CIF singles and doubles draws.
In singles, No. 1 player lost 6-0, 6-0 in his first-round match on Thursday morning against Matthew Breisacher of Santa Margarita, played at Villanova School.

In the afternoon, the Venice tandem of and lost its opening match by the same 6-0, 6-0 score to Sheldon Hseih and Edward Taylor of Long Beach Poly, also at Villanova School.
Last year, the Gondoliers suffered a similar fate, managing to win just one game. lost to Mark Mahan of Fullerton 6-0, 6-1 in singles and and fell 6-0, 6-0 in doubles to Michael Cheng of San Marino and Michael Moya of Whittier.
