Windward School Squads Are Playoff Bound
Baseball travels to Villanova Prep in the first round; softball hosts wild-card game.
The CIF Southern Section committee released its baseball and softball playoff pairings Monday and Windward School has qualified in both sports.
In baseball, the Wildcats travel to Frontier League champion Villanova Prep in the first round of the Division 6 playoffs Thursday at 3:15 p.m., with the winner taking on either San Joaquin League champion Capistrano Valley Christian or the winner of Tuesday's wild-card game between Kern Valley and Upland Christian Academy. The second round is next Tuesday, May 24.
Windward (12-12) finished runner-up to Brentwood in the Delphic League this season. Under current coach Tyrone Powell, the Wildcats have made it to at least the second round of the Division 6 playoffs every year since 2005. Windward lost to Sage Hill 3-1 in the second round last spring.

Quarterfinals are Friday May 27; semifinals are May 31; and the Division 6 final is Saturday, June 4, at 3:30 p.m. at UC Riverside.
In softball, Windward was awarded a wild-card berth in Division 6 and hosts Pasadena Poly on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., with the winner advancing to Thursday's first-round against Frontier League champion Santa Clara.

The Wildcats (8-8) finished third in the Alpha League behind Downey Calvary Chapel, the No. 1 overall seed, and Paraclete. If Windward wins its wild-card game and upsets Santa Clara it would meet either Saddleback Valley Christian or Nuview Bridge in the second round May 24.
Quarterfinals are May 26; semifinals are May 31 and the Division 6 final is June 3 or 4 at Deanna Manning Stadium in Irvine.
