The Wildcats open Tuesday against Bishop Amat in the Southern Section Division 5 bracket.

The CIF Southern Section released its boys tennis playoff brackets Monday and Windward School has been awarded a wildcard spot in Division 5.

The Wildcats, who finished second in the Delphic League, will play Bishop Amat Tuesday (May 10) at 3 p.m. at Whittier Narrows Tennis Center in South El Monte. The Lancers are the third-place team from the Del Rey League.

Whichever team wins Tuesday will earn a spot in the main draw and will play either Summit or El Rancho in the first round Wednesday at 3 p.m. Summit finished third in the Sunkist League while El Rancho was third in the Del Rio League.

All matches are a round robin format consisting of nine singles and nine doubles sets, each worth one point. The first school to 10 points wins. If the teams tie 9-9 in sets, total games are counted to determine the winner. If the games won are even, players return to the court to play tiebreakers to decide the outcome.

Quarterfinals in all divisions are May 17, semifinals are May 24 and championships are June 1 at The Claremont Club.
