Today in Venice-Mar Vista: Sit-Down Eatery for 1635 Abbot Kinney, Illegal Pot Shops in Venice

Illegal medical marijuana shops may be on their way out in Venice.

Here are five things for your Monday and beyond in Venice-Mar Vista:  

  1. A public hearing on converting an existing office and take-out restaurant space at 1635 Abbot Kinney Blvd. into a large sit-down restaurant will take place Tuesday from 9-10 a.m. at the West Los Angeles Municipal Building, 1645 Corinth Ave. The applicant would also like to be able to sell a full line of alcoholic beverages for on-site consumption and be open from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. daily. 
  2. An online petition to "save" the neighborhood from the proposed mixed-use development at 1414 Main St. is here.
  3. The Venice Neighborhood Council has been asked to identify medical marijuana dispensaries it believes are illegal, according to an agenda for its Tuesday night meeting. The agenda is here. The meeting of the board of officers takes place Tuesday beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Westminster Elementary School auditorium, 1010 Abbot Kinney Blvd.
  4. A change.org petition asking a medical marijuana business owner not to continue with his plans to move his business to 3472 S. Centinela Blvd. is online. The petition and comments are here.
