What's Up: Boardwalk Safety, iPads in LAUSD, Spooktacular Magic Show, LAX Connect

Safety on the ocean front walk and iPads in LAUSD classroom's will be discussed at two separate meetings Tuesday.

Here are five things for your Monday and beyond in Venice-Mar Vista:  

  1. Safety and other concerns about the Venice Boardwalk will be the subject of a Tuesday night meeting at Westminster Elementary School, 1010 Abbot Kinney Blvd., in the auditorium. The town hall will last from 7-9 p.m. RSVP to vnctownhall@venicenc.org. Councilman Mike Bonin, who represents Venice, will be in attendance.
  2. The Mar Vista Community Council's Education, Arts and Culture Committee meets Tuesday beginning at 7 p.m. to discuss the Los Angeles Unified School District's proposal to implement the use of iPads in the classroom. The meeting will be held at the Mar Vista Recreation Center, 11340 Woodbine St., in the auditorium.
  3. Councilman Mike Bonin will hold a community briefing about the new LAX Connect project that is intended to bring mass transit to the airport. The briefing will be held on Wednesday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Westchester/Loyola Village Public Library, 7114 W. Manchester Ave. RSVP to Jessica Duboff at jessica.duboff@lacity.org. 
  4. Tony Daniels brings his "spooktacular" blend of magic and humor to the Abbot Kinney Memorial Library Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The show promises family fun, according to the website. The library is at 501 S. Venice Blvd.
  5. A change.org petition asking a medical marijuana business owner not to continue with his plans to move his business to 3472 S. Centinela Blvd. is online. The petition and comments are here.
