Hey, lets not forget about Tech Studio on Abbot Kinney. If Tech Studio is not funky then nothing…Read More is. This amazing little store has cool tech gadgets you cant find at any other store! Also, they are a full-fledged abstract art gallery featuring the local legend Diana Hobson. And oh yeh, did I mention that they have been repairing Mac and PC computers for all of Los Angeles County for over 12 years! They fix iPhones and iPads too. What is more they have house dog with her own Facebook page. Jetta the Tech Studio Dog! Tech Studio redefines funky!

We do have a choice in these matters. Publishing our points of view here are good, but it takes real…Read More action to prevent these sorts of projects becoming a reality. Playa Vista is the perfect example of corporate arm wrestling and the city of LA caving in. Try making a journey from LAX to Santa Monica at 6:00 pm on any weekday. The Marina Del Rey corridor as I call it, is another shining reality allowed by LA's corporate masters who do not care about the communities that have to live with this infiltration by people who don't even live here yet thrive from the millions made. I am sick of it. I could care less if my canal home goes up in value, this sort of thing cheapens the living experience we have. My letter writing campaign continues.

Here's another perspective in which to "digest" this subject.
Water, sewage & power.…Read More The impact of these projects comes at a great cost and impacts our local environment COMPLETELY!
Don't believe me? Write to the design firm and ask for the details of the environmental impact study, and the water/sewage requirements of this project. I cannot fathom the monumental stupidity of civic leaders who support this.

Andrew needs to get some professional help because he is ruin his career as an actor and I do care a…Read More lot about him. That doesn't look good for the fans, friends and family. Please change your ways Andrew before it will get worse. Get your life together Andrew Keegan because I love you very much and praying that you do better.

Welcome to the neighborhood. Venice Blvd. Mar Vista is starting to have a nicely varied retail mix.…Read More .

I don't get. Are they selling used caskets as well. Or caskets as furniture?
Venice Beach Guy April 4, 2013 at 09:23 am
Walter, they are the Surfing Cowboys not the Casket Cowboys. Stop dogging these guys or I will sick…Read More the dude on you bud. Walter let's just go bowling.

Agreed. It would have been cool to have the entire street shut down. Are you going to ride the…Read More Wilshire Boulevard shutdown June 23?

Gee, I sure hope the food is better than the Post and Beam. It was just ok and the service was…Read More POOR.....The drinks were great......Welcome to the Abbott....

Fried chicken and greens, pork belly, fatback, pigs feet....... I am licking my chops.
Citizen Kane of Venice March 23, 2013 at 11:55 pm
Way too expensive for fried chicken. I will stick with Chick-Flay for my fried Chicken.
Lois Evans March 9, 2013 at 12:36 pm

They will be missed, looking forward to the new restaurant that takes her place
George March 7, 2013 at 05:52 pm
YES Carole, so true! Poor Kristy Choo and Jin Patisserie-- the whole neighborhood is quite sad about…Read More Jin being displaced due to disgusting greed. It will be missed, and I for one will not be supporting the new business that goes in. Any company that can afford $40,000/mth rent for that tiny house without a full kitchen doesn't belong on Abott Kinney, that's just greed at its finest and ripping off some poor sucker which is not what we want in this area. It will also be some huge corporate company selling cheap, stolen ideas made in China, even if hidden behind some trendy food item finely crafted from the softest baby goat's milk and tears of pink-cheeked cherubs. Please help us all while the rich get rich and those of us that live here can't even afford to shop on AK anymore. I'm just completely over the self-indulgence of what is going on over there. Same goes for Belly Up -- let me guess, they will be redesigning the space with rustic wood, concrete, and recycled iron pipe elements for another industrial-chic space with a Southern flair. EXACTLY LIKE EVERY OTHER PLACE ON AK. How about something actually unique for a change instead of trendy rip-offs that are all the same? Ugh. Spare us all.
George March 7, 2013 at 05:55 pm
What happened to healthy food by the way? Why do all these new places think that everyone wants to…Read More eat pork and food bathed in grease or bacon? Most everyone I know in Venice eats healthy. Is this to feed the Millenials, do they only eat pig products now so they don't float away from their empiric dreams?
Donald Jarvis March 22, 2013 at 07:51 pm
George you sound upset. I know how you feel. Your broke and can't afford to shop in Venice anymore.…Read More And it doesn't look like it is going to get any cheeper here in the near future. Wake up and smell the coffee dude, it time to find another place to live. I have been scoping out other areas that haven't been gentrified yet. It's time dude. We need to move, I can feel your pain.

Exactly what I was thinking Max. Just ate there for the first time about a month ago. Food was good,…Read More not great, but good. Loved their signature mescal cocktail the "DMWOW"
It was packed both times I went there. Wonder what went wrong.
