Louie’s of Mar Vista Restaurant Set to Open July 5
It's been several years in the making, but the Cajun-influenced restaurant is finally slated to open on Grand View Boulevard.
Back in May 2011, Patch wrote about how John Atkinson who runs Manhattan Beach’s North End Caffe was hoping to open Louie's of Mar Vista on Grand View Boulevard by Dec. 2011.
His estimate was off by about 18 months, but the restaurant – run by Atkinson and his wife Laura - now has an official opening date of July 5, reports Eater LA.
Atkinson told Patch in 2001 that in the 1950s, his grandfather purchased a building on Venice and Grand View boulevards and opened Louie's butcher shop. New owners turned the store into a dry cleaners, but now Atkinson has bought back the store and is retrofitting it as a restaurant. Atkinson plans to keep the name Louie's to honor his grandfather, who died a few years back, and will serve up his famous food with a Cajun influence.
