Buy a Date, Find out What's up with MOM, and Check Out New Art Crawl Events

There are lots of things to do for the week in Venice.

From love to art you're sure to find events that are fun and stimulating this week in Venice.

Looking for love in LA? The  One Love Date Auction is at Brennan's Pub on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m., where L.A. women and men are on the auction block for a worthy cause. You can bid for a hot date and rent or race your own turtle (Brennan's is famous for its turtle races). A $10 donation at the door benefits One Love Generation, a non-profit organization empowering youth to inspire positive social change through art, service and awareness.

Every third Wednesday of the month, the MOM (Meditations on Media) Workshop led by Venetian Gerry Fialka explores all forms of media from spoken word, art, literature, online to film with the effects on social consciousness and how it shapes individuals and society. Free. From 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Beyond Baroque.

The West Coast's legendary and longest running poetry workshop (since 1969) is also on Wednesday night. Bring  your poems for discussion and constructive criticism. Free. 8 p.m. at Beyond Baroque.

The Venice Art Crawl is almost one year old, and it has grown up fast! On Thursday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. (starting and ending later in some cases), there are new popup locations and happenings each month that add to this ever-evolving art event.

"Creare" is first of the series where fashion designer/artist Andrea Tan collaborates with other artists to inspire and simply create at . This is a collaboration with contemporary artist Brett Woods. For the first event, a dress made and designed by Andrea Tan will be painted on live accompanied by live psychedelic funk music. The live painting will happen throughout the evening so attendees will have a chance to see the creative process.

Make sure to check out the back room at across the street and a few doors down at Speedway. Also, don't miss the opportunity to see photographer at 2214 Pacific Ave. with paintings by Theresa Holliday, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

As you progress heading north, Momentum X is in a new location at the Venice Beach House, 904 Pacific Ave. (near Brooks) which will be showing works from Javiera Estrada, Julie Orr and Francesca Quintano. In addition, music will be served up by DJ Lyf, Jung Hollywood and The Trees. Light and video installations are outside, as well as a mural by Isabelle Alford-Lago. Free from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m., age 21 and over.
