Celebrate a Fun Fourth of July in Mar Vista

There are plenty of ways to enjoy the holiday weekend without straying too far from home.

Summer is in full swing and there's nothing like a national holiday and a three-day weekend to put you in a party mood, so we've come up with several fun ways to celebrate the Fourth of July in Mar Vista.

1. Have a patriotic breakfast. Start the day out right by treating yourself and/or your family to a red, white and blue American breakfast like no other.  Make blueberry pancakes, and serve them with whipped cream and a cherry on top.

2. Put together a block party. Have everyone bring their favorite dish. You can even involve the kids by having them make fun Fourth of July decorations using red, white and blue banners, flags, crepe paper, and other traditional décor.
