Family of Woman Killed on Venice Boardwalk To Pursue Legal Action Against City of Los Angeles

Alice Gruppioni was killed on Aug. 3, 2013 when a car ran her down on the Venice Boardwalk. A legal firm in Beverly Hills will file the claim on behalf of her family on Mon. Jan. 27.

Beverly Hills based attorneys Shernoff Bidart Echeverria Bentley LLP have announced that the family of Alice Gruppioni, who was killed when a car ran her over on the Venice Boardwalk on Aug. 3, 2013,  will be serving a California Government Code Section 910 claim against the City of Los Angeles.

The firm plans to file the claim on the family’s behalf on Mon. Jan. 27.

The family will not be able to claim money or damages until the 910 claim has been filed. The 910 claim allows the City time to investigate the claims and settle them prior to litigation. It also provides an opportunity for the city to fix “a dangerous condition and avoid further injuries or death in another accident.”

The City will have 45 days to either accept or deny the claim.
