The Mildred Cursh Foundation Seeks Donations

Financial donations and much-needed supplies top the list of needs.

The Mildred Cursh Foundation is looking for help with continuing to meet the needs of the hundreds of people it serves every month in Venice.

The foundation, run by founder Antoinette Reynolds, distributes food to members of the community in need twice a month, including from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month.

"We don't turn anybody away from receiving food," Reynolds said.

There is also an afterschool mentoring program, designed for children from four to 18 years of age and a "Heal Kit Program" that launched last week for seniors, among other programs, Reynolds said.

The foundation, which is named for Reynolds' mother, has been around for about a decade. Reynolds was looking for a way to honor her mother, who spent her life helping others, after she died, according to Reynolds.

"I was like what could I do to keep her dream alive," Reynolds said.

In addition to financial donations, which are tax-deductible, the foundation is also in need of pencils, paper, napkins, gloves, a truck and donated laptops, according to Reynolds.
