Tuesday Essentials: Occupy Love, Road Repairs, CUP for Alcohol, 'Money For Nothing'

Here are five things for your Tuesday and week ahead in Venice-Mar Vista:  

1. Tonight's the night to view the film "Occupy Love," which will be screened Tuesday at an event marking the 2nd anniversary of the Occupy Movement. The evening begins at 7 p.m. at 4 Rose Avenue and will include discussion and refreshments. There is a $5 parking lot at Rose Avenue and the boardwalk. An after-party will be held at the Venice Ale House.
2. Point out what small asphalt repair needs to be to an alley, sidewalk or street in Venice. Submit your suggestion by Wednesday using this form and, if possible, attach a photo of the spot or send the address with a short description via email to alencia@lacity.org or fax to 213-847-3028, Attn: Aida Valencia and cc: Debbie.dynerharris@lacity.org in council member Mike Bonin's office. The Bureau of Street Services is coming to Venice, weather permitting, to do small asphalt repairs on Oct. 1.

4. A conditional use permit for the sale and dispensing of beer and wine for on and off-site consumption for an 84-seat restaurant in an existing building at 1205 Abbot Kinney Boulevard will be discussed during a public hearing Thursday from 9-10 a.m. at the West Los Angeles Municipal Building, 1645 Corinth Avenue, Los Angeles. The CUP would include seating on the public sidewalk and operating hours of 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. daily, according to the Venice Neighborhood Council website. 
   
5. Venice resident Jim Bruce's documentary "Money For Nothing: Inside the Federal Reserve," is playing through Thursday at the Laemmle Monica 4 in Santa Monica, 1332, 2nd Street; (310) 478-3836. Bruce directed and produced the film, narrated by Liev Schreiber, that features interviews with top economic minds from around the world, including Paul Volcker and Janet Yellen, candidate to be the next Federal Reserve Chairperson. The film is touted as an "independent, non-partisan, non-conspiracy-theorist look at the Fed’s impact on our lives."
