826LA is celebrating its grand opening of its Mar Vista premises this Fri. Nov. 30 from 7-10 p.m. at 12515 Venice Blvd., and the community is invited to attend.
826 is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write.
826’s services are structured around the understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success.
With this in mind, the organization provides free after-school tutoring, free evening and weekend workshops, free in-school tutoring, free help for English language learners, and free assistance with student publications.
