35th Annual Los Angeles Home Show Debuts at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium Saturday and Sunday, March 5-6.  Mayor and city dignitaries will cut the opening ribbon Saturday 10 a.m. Show runs to 8 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.  Special feature on Green Energy Products, do-it-yourself workshops, chef demonstrations, gardening and Feng Shui professionals, world of kitchens, dream backyard, Red Cross emergency preparedness kits, celebrity appearances and thousands of products and services for the home.  1855 Main Street, Santa Monica.  Adults $7.75, seniors (55+) $5.00, children under 12 free. HOME SHOW DEBUTS AT THE SANTA MONICA CIVIC CENTER MARCH 5-6

 

 

After 34 years at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the Home Remodeling & Decorating Show will be taking up new quarters at the Santa Monica Civic Center the weekend of March 5-6.

 

Santa Monica's Mayor and City Council members along with the Chamber of Commerce and other city dignitaries will cut the green ribbon to inagurate the first Home Show in the city.

 

The oldest and largest continually running home show in Southern California is this year emphasizing "Green Products" and special workshops on "Greening your Home One Step at a Time" and the City of Santa Monica's Energy and Green Building department will offer advice. 

 

Actor Michael Corbett, host of NBC's Extra's "Mansions & Millionaires" and the network's Real Estate and Lifestyle correspondent, will be signing his Best Selling book "Before You Buy" Saturday afternoon. Celebrity real estate broker Sally Forster Jones will offer a seminar on high end home sales.  She is the agent for the $150 million Spelling estate in Beverly Hills.

 

Featured guest chef Norward Clark of Uncle Darrow's Cajun Creole Eatery in Marina del Rey will be cooking up some special dishes on the food stage. There are also a number of do-it-yourself workshops, cooking demonstrations with Santa Monica farmers market chefs, gardening tips offered by radio and TV master gardener Nick Federoff and Feng Shui techniques for the home from author and design professional P.K. Odie.  

 

The Santa Monica Red Cross will be offering emergency preparedness kits for home use in case of earthquakes, floods, fires or any other household emergencies.

 

The Annual Home Remodeling & Decorating Show is sponsored by the Santa Monica Daily Press and The Home Improvement Guide, and produced by the N.E.C. Group, Inc. It is the only home show exclusively endorsed and approved by The League of California Homeowners. 

 

Special features also include the World of Kitchens, featuring Wolf ranges and appliances, the Dream Backyard (spas, decks, gazebos, barbecues, fountains, etc.) and Evelyn Gray of Organized for Success. Also hundreds of home improvement exhibitors and thousands of new products, services and ideas. Kitchens, floors, windows, doors – everything from roofs to rose gardens.
