Art Exhibit Focuses on Helping Rescue Animals

A new art exhibit, "Homeward Bound," that aims to help rescue animals will soon open at the G2 Gallery in Venice.

The exhibit, which features photography by Jennifer MaHarry, shows cats and dogs from the kill shelters and off the streets. All of the animals pictured are available for adoption from the Best Friends Animal Society and the Animal Wellness Foundation.

“We hope Jennifer’s beautiful photography will compel people to save these vulnerable animals by adopting them,” said Jolene Hanson, G2 Gallery’s Director.

The exhibit holds especially meaningful for MaHarry who has a personal connection to it, she said.

"I have two rescue dogs and two rescue cats of my own,” says MaHarry. "I think what Best Friends and Animal Wellness are doing for animal welfare is so important. Working with them and photographing the pets they’ve rescued was an amazing experience.”

The exhibit premieres on June 4, and an opening reception for "Homeward Bound" will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday June 15. The cost is $10 at the door which will include wine, hors d’oeuvres and complimentary valet.

All of the proceeds will benefit the Animal Wellness  Foundation and Best Friends Animal Society. To reserve your spot, send an email to: rsvp@theg2gallery.com.
