Gas prices rose to over $4 in Los Angeles County for the first time since Nov. 6.
Average prices increased to an average of $4.06 in L.A. County, up from $3.62 a month ago, but still below the highest recorded average price of $4.70 on Oct. 9, 2012, according to AAA.
In Venice, the lowest price for regular gasoline as of Sunday was $3.99 at Arco, located at 251 Lincoln Blvd. at Rose Ave., according to Gas Buddy.
The Los Angeles County average price is the highest in the state and the only region where it is above $4. The lowest average price is $3.712 in Modesto.
The increasing prices are the result of high oil prices, Middle East tension, maintenance at refineries that reduces supplies and investors shifting their money into the gasoline market "earlier and earlier," according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.

every december the cost of gas decreases, putting more money in our pockets for christmas, then as soon as the holidays are over the incessant upward climb back to $4.00 a gallon. its glaringly obvious that big oil is in charge, holding the purse strings of our economy with the politicians in their pocket. Wake up america
Wake up to what, that we are getting screwed by big oil and our government. Old news. Nobody is putting a gun to your head to drive a car or use oil base products. Let alone purchased goods and services. Hope I didn't leave anything out.
these same politicians are beholden to big oil, big pharma, big ag, big arms, big chem, big big big! what about the little guy? i just want representation, its is so glaringly obvious that the game has been tilted in their favor and as long as america sleeps, it will only get worse, come summer - a new high, $5 a gallon, while you are sleeping
and just because one may feel its old news, does not mean it should not be repeated because the problem still exists, take your head out of the sand and stop drinking the kool-aid, here's $5, go buy a gallon...
