Local Farmers' Markets Aim to Please

With a host of farmers' markets in the area on any given day of the week, the Marina del Rey Farmers’ Market is opting to open at a new time starting this month.

The market’s new hours are now from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursdays.

Lucie Kim, Marketing Analyst for the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors, said the Marina del Rey Farmers’ Market tried out the new hours for the first time last Thursday.

The move simply made sense, according to Kim.

"We had a number of people state they couldn’t attend the market because they work 9 to 5," Kim said. "So we decided to start the market earlier to catch shoppers who could stop by before they head-in to work. The response to the new time has been very positive.”

The Marina del Rey Farmers’ Market is held every week at Mother's Beach at Via Marina and Admiralty Way.

In addition to that farmers’ market, others nearby are open on weekends, including the Venice Farmers’ Market which takes place from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Fridays at the corner of Venice Boulevard and Venice Way.

The Mar Vista Farmers’ Market is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays at Grand View and Venice Boulevards.
