Penmar Murder Suspect Makes Court Appearance

Michael Anthony Mariscal was in court on Wednesday for a pretrial hearing.

Mariscal has been charged with capital murder in the deaths of Salvador Diaz Jr. and Alan Mateo, both 18, and is also accused of shooting a third man who survived.

The victims were watching a baseball game in June 2011 in Penmar Park  when the crime occurred.

In the past, police have described Mariscal as a "documented gang member," but his family has refuted this.

Mariscal is scheduled to return to court for another hearing on June 19 at the Los Angeles Superior Court Airport Courthouse.
