Rain Delays, Crime Prevention and a Dubious Celebration

Here are the five things we think you should know for Oct. 6, 2010.

1. Interested in keeping crime down? The Pacific Division is holding a summit tonight at 6:30 for people to talk to their senior lead officers at the Centerpointe Club in Playa Vista.

2. German designer Damir Doma arrives at Mona Moore (1112 Abbot Kinney) today. Now based in Paris, Doma is known for draped lines in muted colors, "inspired by the fragile ephemeral quality of the human body," according to his website.

3. It's another day of rain in Los Angeles, and traffic is already snarled, so stay off the highways. Stay off the surface streets. In fact, just curl up and watch TV today... Oh, wait:

4. If you're reading this, you might not have Time Warner Cable service. We've put a call in to find out when service will be restored in Venice. On second thought, just bake something.

5. Finally, congratulations (?) to Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Three years and two girlfriends later, his divorce has been finalized.
