Rain on the Way

A storm system will bring wet and windy weather to the area late tonight and into tomorrow.

According to the National Weather Service a storm system over the Pacific will move into Southern California early Tuesday. The Weather Service predicts breezy conditions with stronger winds possible across the mountains.

The storm will likely bring four to eight hours of moderate rain across the area and should depart the region late Tuesday night. The Weather Service predicts .25 to .75 inch of rain across the coastal and valley areas and up to 1 or 1.5 inches across South-facing slopes in Santa Barbara and Western Ventura counties.

There is some good news for skiers and snowboarders, who have had a lackluster season due to the dry weather. Snow levels will start near 9000 feet on Monday night but will drop to 6000 feet by Tuesday morning. By Tuesday afternoon snow will fall as low as 4500 feet with several inches of snow above 6000 feet.

By Wednesday, the storm will have moved on and the Weather Service predicts mostly sunny skies and a high near 69 degrees.
