Top 5 Westside Stories: 405 Freeway Worker Killed, VP Debate, Space Shuttle

It's been a long week and a lot has happened, so we've gathered some of the most popular articles this week for your perusal. Here are five stories that dominated the headlines in the Los Angeles Westside Patch sites the week of Oct. 8-13.

• We live blogged the space shuttle Endeavour's 12-mile trip from LAX to the California Science Center at Exposition Park this weekend. Patch staffer John Schreiber took some absolutely stunning shots of the process. The blog also includes some user-uploaded photos that help to tell the story. Have any  photos of Endeavour's trip? • Santa Monica resident Molly Kate Adams was arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs after she plowed her Audi into a big rig on the 10 Freeway on Tuesday. Adams' passenger was killed in the collision.

• Construction worker Adolfo Figueroa was killed after a 3000-pound beam crushed him while he worked on a construction project near Santa Monica and Sawtelle boulevards in West Los Angeles on Thursday.

• Who won the vice presidential debate on Thursday? That's the question we put to you in a poll that garnered some 344 votes and 345 comments. There were 168 votes in favor of Vice President Joe Biden and 162 for Paul Ryan, vice presidential nominee. Fourteen votes called neither Biden nor Ryan the winner. What did you think? • A new restaurant is coming to Culver City next door to Rush Street and it's called LYFE Kitchen. Renowned chef Art Smith and others gathered in front of the eatery on Tuesday night to talk about its January 2013 opening. Follow the link above for photos and a video clip of the press conference.
