This week the California Supreme Court ruled that the state had the right to abolish redevelopment agencies, a move it made to help balance the budget last fall. Venice High School’s Gabriel Marks was named Western League Football MVP and the Mar Vista Community Council is seeking nominations for an open seat. The Mar Vista Community Council is seeking to fill an open seat for an At-Large vacancy, created by the . Olson resigned from the council last month in part over a disagreement over how to fill another vacancy on the board.

The City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works wants residents to recycle their Christmas trees. Curbside collection is available for any tree as long as all decorative ornaments are removed. If the tree is too large to cut up for the green waste bin, just put the tree next to the bin on your scheduled recycling pick-up day.
