Week in Review: Obama in Town, Windward Hoops, Uproar over 7-11

The president came to vist, the Wildcats won and the MVCC voted to oppose a 7-11. The LAUSD Board postponed tough choices on budget cutting and we asked readers to tell us what they'd like to see in the vacant Wild Oats.

Local basketball powerhouse, the Windward School Wildcats, both the boys and the girls began their playoffs with wins. The girls team looks especially strong going into the post season.

The Ma Vista Community Council at a packed meeting voted to oppose a conditional use permit for a new 7-11 at Overland Avenue and National Boulevard after hearing residents many concerns about the store’s impact on their neighborhood.

The Los Angeles Unified School District Board voted to delay cuts to programs, including adult education, early childhood education and arts programs, but warned that budget slashing was inevitable with further reductions likely in the state’s budget.
