Westside Weekend Get Out Guide

Make the most of your weekend with some suggestions from Patch editors.

If your family's winter break is drawing to a close, check out these Westside events for things to do this weekend before it's back to the grind of school and work. Let us know what you'll be doing — and upload your photos!

Pacific Palisades: Go back in time in the Santa Monica Mountains and learn about how the Chumash tribe lived off the land for thousands of years. The Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy leads this free, easy one-mile walk. Meet in Temescal Gateway Park at 3 p.m. Saturday. The event lasts until 5 p.m.

Santa Monica: Party for a good cause — the eighth annual "Man V. Bar" pub crawl on the Third Street Promenade is Saturday 2-9 p.m. The event benefits athletes from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society who are fundraising and training for triathlons, ultramarathons and cycling events. A $20 donation buys discounted food and drinks at Ye Olde King's Head Pub, 4th and Jane, Monsoon Cafe and Wokcano. For more information, click here.

Venice/Marina del Rey: The Los Angeles 13.1 Marathon begins at 7 a.m. Sunday. Cheer on local runners along the course, which starts and finishes at Dockweiler Beach. For information about road closures, click here.

Let me clarify: All I tried to do was re-link to the video that was dumped when Patch revised itsRead More format. The Festival of the Chariots won't be coming to Venice for months.

One year, long ago, Alice Coltrane performed. Anyone know the year? Definitely in the 70's.
