Gallerist
Kana Manglapus trains her camera on her immediate surroundings and travels she
has made to San Francisco and Mexico through a wry, irreverent and personal
lens.
Her
prolific participation in social media, Instagram in particular, has provided
the forum for re-discovering her everyday environments in the mode of a tourist and the role of local voyeur.
In
expanding beyond her Instagram audience, Manglapus, who shot the collection
entirely with an iPhone, collaborated with the Cadillac Hotel to showcase
“#beatourist,” offering a site-specific selection of photographs to inspire
travelers and locals alike.

Manglapus as she takes one step back, reconsiders the ostensibly commonplace
and goes for a ride down the road less traveled, even if it is sometimes the

This
is her first solo exhibition. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the
Venice Family Clinic.
