Former TV Anchorwoman Bree Walker Suspected of DUI

Anaheim police arrest the Venice resident early Wednesday

Former TV news anchor Bree Walker was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in Anaheim, it was reported today.

Walker, 61, of Venice, was pulled over near South Beach Boulevard and West Ball Road about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday on suspicion of running a red light, and officers allegedly smelled alcohol, the Orange County Register reported.

Walker was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and later released on a promise to appear in court, the newspaper reported. Her vehicle was impounded and a pit bull inside was turned over to animal control officers, The Register reported.

Police said she was unable to produce a driver's license.

Walker, best known in Los Angeles for her stint at CBS2 in the 1980 and '90s, worked as a reporter and anchor in San Diego, L.A. and New York City. She was also a disability activist, having been born with her fingers and toes fused together, a condition kept hidden until she revealed it while at KGTV in San Diego.
