Police Blotter: Officers Investigate Burglary on Colonial Ave.

LAPD says suspect saw resident in home and ran.

The LAPD is investigating an attempted burglary in the 3300 block of Colonial Ave. in Mar Vista this morning.

Sgt. Martin, watch commander for the LAPD Pacific Division told Patch that a male, possibly white or Hispanic appears to have accessed the property over the back fence. He “entered the home through a sliding glass door,” which the commander thinks was unlocked. A resident of the home then “saw the suspect in the house. They made eye contact and the suspect fled.”

The commander does not know at this time if any property was taken.

Last month, the LAPD arrested three suspects in a home break-in in Mar Vista following a spate of  in the neighborhood.  by LAPD officers to address residents' concerns about this issue. 

Following those arrests last month, the LAPD issued the following statement:

LAPD would like to remind you that residential burglaries similar to this occur every day. You can help reduce your chances of being a victim of one of these crimes by being diligent about locking and securing your residences and vehicles. Also remember to never leave valuables or bags in your vehicles, especially in plain sight and to report suspicious activity to the police.
