Actor, Environmentalist Endorses Ryavec for City Council

Noted actor and green activist Ed Begley Jr. on Friday endorses Venice Stakeholders Association president Mark Ryavec for the Los Angeles City Council's District 11 seat.

, might have scored a few points with local environmentalists last week as actor and green activist Ed Begley Jr. gave the District 11 candidate the nod for his bid in the Los Angeles City Council race.

Begley and Ryavec served together as board members on the American Oceans Campaign (Oceana).

Ryavec has been an outspoken opponent of coastal drilling and a strong advocate for keeping clean California's coast, most recently calling on the L.A. Regional Water Quality Control Board to enact stricter runoff water quality standards.

Ryavec and other CD 11 candidates—including L.A. Councilman Bill Rosendahl's top advisor, Mike Bonin; former science teacher Odysseus Bostick; and Frederick Sutton—are looking to fill Rosendahl's council seat.

Rosendahl, who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, announced on Oct. 8 that he would not seek re-election in March 2013.

Let me clarify: All I tried to do was re-link to the video that was dumped when Patch revised itsRead More format. The Festival of the Chariots won't be coming to Venice for months.

One year, long ago, Alice Coltrane performed. Anyone know the year? Definitely in the 70's.
