Preliminary Hearing Set for Venice Boardwalk Driver

Nathan Louis Campbell's attorney speaks with reporters about the case.

A preliminary hearing for the man who drove a car on the Venice Boardwalk in August, killing one and injuring 16, was set for mid-November, according to an article on KGFO.

Nathan Louis Campbell, 38, is accused of murder, assault with a deadly weapon and 17 counts of felony hit-and-run for the Aug. 3rd incident in which 32-year-old Italian tourist Alice Gruppioni was killed. He was in court in Los Angeles Tuesday.

Campbell's attorney, Phillip Dube told reporters Campbell did not intend to hurt anyone and said his car may have had mechanical problems. Dube said there's "much more to this story," and addressed his client's mental competency and whether or not drugs or alcohol played a role.
