Santa Monica Airport's Future to Be Discussed at Forum

The event takes place on Saturday at the Penmar Park Recreation Center.

There will be a free forum to discuss the future of the Santa Monica Airport will take place Saturday and is sponsored by the Venice Neighborhood Council and the Mar Vista Community Council.

Health and safety experts are expected to make presentations regarding the impact of flights on homes in Mar Vista and Venice that are close to the airport.

The Santa Monica Airport Committee of the Venice Neighborhood Council has also studied the issue for more than three years. The committee is expected to discuss a summary of their findings as well.

City Councilmember Bill Rosendahl, Councilmember-elect Mike Bonin, Congressman Henry Waxman and State Senator Ted Lieu are also expected to be on hand at Saturday's meeting. 

The forum will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at Penmar Park Recreation Center, Community Room, 1341 Lake St., Venice.
