SEIU USWW Endorses Bonin

The union representing janitors, airport workers and security guards is backing Mike Bonin for the Los Angeles 11th District Council seat in March 2013.

The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) United Service Workers West (USWW), is backing CD 11 City Los Angeles City Council Candidate Mike Bonin in the March 2013 election.

SEIU USSW President Mike Garcia issued an official statement earlier this week stating, “From his work in fighting for the ‘super living wage’ for LAX workers, to his work with the Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy, to his work as a L.A. City Council chief deputy, Mike Bonin has always been there for middle class families in Los Angeles when it counts.”

Bonin, who is running for the seat that Bill Rosendahl will leave vacant said, “SEIU USWW is one of the premier organizations standing for and fighting for the interests of working families. To move forward and thrive, Los Angeles needs a strong and vital middle class, and it needs a workforce that is well paid and treated fairly."

What behind doors agreements did he have to make to get this endorsement? A vote for Bonin is a vote for politics as usual in L.A.

Sounds like some right-wing belly-aching and hatred of unions. Shouldn't these folks move to a boss' paradise like Wisconsin or Michigan, where they could enjoy the benefits of no collective bargaining, 'right to work' (for low wages) AND high unemployment?
