The best surf film ever?- Drift - a world-class homage to surfing

Art encompasses many forms, all of which can be found in the wonderful Venice Beach area which is home to countless artists and artisans.  Venice is not the first place in Los Angeles that you would think of for film production but there is a great production company on Abbott Kinney that goes by the name of "World Wide Mind".

World Wide Mind has its roots in advertising and recently released a feature length film titled "Drift".  Six years in the making, this film centers around two brothers in a sleepy coastal town in Australia with some very challenging waves.  The two brothers grow and evolve during the same period that the business and nature of surfing are quickly and dramatically evolving.

Featuring Sam Worthington of Avatar fame, this is by far the best all-around surf film ever made.  Great care and attention to detail are paid to the business history of surfing while a deep respect for the sport of surfing itself is exuded in every water-based scene.  And there is no shortage of excellent and world-class surfing footage in this nearly 2-hour indie charmer.

Kudos to the team at World Wide Mind for making such an excellent movie that pays tribute to one of the most difficult and elusive of all sports while managing to entertain with an interesting and well-paced script.  These guys did their homework, now go do yours - see the movie on Amazon or iTunes if you cant find it in a theater and be sure to visit the official website at http://www.driftthemovie.com/
