Venice High Volleyball Players Voted All-League

Smith and Xiong make the first team; Chen and Ibrahim are selected to the second team.

The  teams have been selected, and Venice High players have made the first and second teams.

Representing the Gondoliers on the first team are senior outside hitter and senior opposite hitter .

Joining Smith and Xiong on the first team are junior outside hitters Chance Earnest and Alex Frapech, senior outside hitter Denton Van Duzer, sophomore middle blocker Grant Pugatch and junior middle blocker Conor Nasch of league champion Palisades; senior libero Arnel Abeleda and senior outside hitter Justin Cobb of Fairfax; senior outside hitter Tsog Altankhuyag and sophomore middle blocker Arvis Greene of University; senior setter William Bryant and senior setter Brandon Kim of Westchester; and senior opposite hitter Haley Shin of Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies.

Palisades setter Jack Scharf was named Player of the Year after guiding the Dolphins to the City Section Division I finals.

Two more Gondoliers made the second team--senior setter and sophomore outside hitter . They are joined by senior libero Isaac Margulies of Palisades; senior middle blocker Marshall Arwine and sophomore middle blocker Nick Davis of Westchester; senior setter Rani Bungay and sophomore outside hitter Tom Krakovszki of University; senior opposite hitter Mohammed Choudhury and senior defensive specialist Alex Kang of Fairfax; and junior setter Caleb Paydar of Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies.

League coaches also selected a junior varsity team and Venice sophomore setter  has been chosen Player of the Year along with Palisades junior opposite hitter Teddy Lack and sophomore middle blocker Christian Mims of University.

Joining Glaza on the junior varsity first team is Venice junior outside hitter .

Rounding out the JV first team are freshman middle blocker Galen Dodd and sophomore middle blocker Max Reinhardt of Palisades; freshman outside hitter Leyon Gooden and senior middle blocker Josh Wilson of Westchester; junior setter Gabriel Thompson and junior libero Rudy Pineda of Fairfax; sophomore outside hitter Mitchell West of University; and junior outside hitter Jeff Galloway of Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies. 

The JV second team has two more Gondoliers players: sophomore setter and sophomore middle blocker .

Rounding out the second team are sophomore outside hitter Trevor Henry, junior outside hitter Tyler Hensley and sophomore setter Josh Kornblum of Palisades; freshman outside hitter Felix Blanco of Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies; freshman middle blocker Ryan Hewitt of Westchester; freshman middle blocker Daquan Owens and sophomore setter Jake Smith of University and sophomore middle hitter Bradley Van Der Linde of Fairfax.
