Today in Venice-Mar Vista: Instagram Photo Contest, New Murals, Bike Rack Design Contest and More

Art, toys, education, Ocean Front Walk and the environment are each topics of discussion at meetings this week.

Here are five things for your Monday and beyond in Venice-Mar Vista:

  1. The Venice Neighborhood Council's Environmental Committee will meet Monday noon-1 p.m. at Toms, 1334 Abbot Kinney Blvd., according to a post online.
  2. Venice High School will hold its annual Title 1 meeting Monday from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on campus in the student cafe at 13000 Venice Blvd.. Title 1 gives the school funding to improve student achievement. Tutoring, teacher coaching and other services are made available to students as a result of the funding. If you're not able to attend the meeting but would like more information, contact the school’s office at  (310) 577-4200.
  3. 4. The city's mural ordinance, a bike rack design competition and an Instagram photo contest are on the Venice Neighborhood Council Arts Committee agenda. The meeting will be held Monday, 7-8:30 p.m., at SPARC, 685 North Venice Blvd.
  5. Ocean Front Walk will be looked at again Monday when the Ocean Front Walk Committee meets with the Public Safety and Visitor Impact committees from 7-9 p.m. at the Oakwood Recreation Center, 767 California Ave. The agenda doesn't appear to contain anything earthshattering but you need to look at it to see what you can figure out.
